I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC to first generation Korean immigrant parents. They taught me the importance of having a strong faith in Jesus Christ and to use my life to serve Him and others. Although I refused to accept the fact that my father dedicated me, their first son, to be a pastor before I was even born, God had other plans for me. I accepted God’s calling to be a pastor during my freshman year at Northwest College in Kirkland, WA . After gaining a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies in 1993, I relocated to southern California and attended seminary at Talbot Theological Seminary. In 1996 I received a Master of Divinity and was ordained by Talbot Evangelical Church Association in June, 2004. Throughout my college and seminary years I served as a children’s and youth pastor in Washington and California . I believe and value the importance of giving young people a strong foundation in their Christian walk which will help them to grow into future leaders and followers of Jesus Christ.
After serving in California for 7 years I took a sabbatical and moved back to my “home”, the Pacific Northwest . It was there that I met my wife, Karen in 1999 and we married a year later. Since then God has blessed me with 3 wonderful children, my daughter Hannah (5) and my sons Isaac (2) and Jonathan born in November 2007. While serving as a youth pastor at a church in Federal Way, Karen and I felt God leading us to plant Compass Christian Center in April 2005. With much prayer and encouragement from our dear family and friends we have experienced God continue to meet our needs time and time again. I am proud to be the lead pastor of Compass and am excited for how God will use our church in the future.
